Pan African University FULL Scholarships for Postgraduate African Students



Young, qualified, talented and enterprising applicants from African countries and the African Diaspora are invited to apply to join Masters or PhD degree programmes at any of the four PAU institutes

PAU offers full scholarships to all students enrolled in its programmes following a competitive admissions process.
Candidates with potential, motivation and who desire to play transformative leadership roles as academics, professionals, industrialists, innovators and entrepreneurs are particularly encouraged to apply.

About Pan-African University

The Pan-African University (or Pan African University) (PAU) is a post-graduate training and research network of university nodes in five regions, supported by the African Union. The new organization is also supported by the Association of African Universities.

The PAU aims to provide the opportunity for advanced graduate training and postgraduate research to high-performing African students. Objectives also include promoting mobility of students and teachers and harmonizing programs and degrees. According to Kenyan Education Minister Sam Ongeri, the PAU will stimulate collaborative and internationally competitive research, and enhance the attractiveness of African higher education and research institutions.


Master’s and PhD


Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Health etc.


1. Full-tuition waver.

2. A stipend of $750 per month for Masters, and $1,100 for PhD students, to support the student’s living costs including food, housing, utilities, local transportation and medical insurance.

3. Students not permanently resident in the country hosting the institute they are attending are entitled to a single, economy return air ticket for the most direct route between their country/city of permanent residence and the host country/city.

4. Students permanently resident in the country hosting the institute they are attending are entitled to $100 to cover the cost of their travel.


Citizens of any African country( Both at home and those in diaspora)

Requirements for Graduate programmes

1. Masters’ Programmes

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university, with at least a second class upper division or its equivalent, in a relevant field.
  • Certified copies of relevant certificates, transcripts (from university and high school), national I.D. card and passport personal details page.
  • Recommendation letters from 2 Professors
  • Clear colored passport size photograph(2cmx2cm).
  • Maximum age of 30 years for male and 35 years for female applicants.
  • Candidates may be required to undergo a written/oral examination after pre-selection.
  • Candidates for the Master in Conference Interpreting and Translation programmes are required to have excellent knowledge of at least two of the African Union’s official languages (Arabic, English, French and Portuguese)

    2. PhD Programmes

  • A Masters degree in a relevant field from PAU or any internationally recognized university.
  • Certified copies of relevant certificates, transcripts, national I.D. card and passport personal details page.
  • A 3 to 4 page research concept note (tentative title, research questions, objectives, significance of the research etc…)
  • Recommendation letters from 2 Professors.
  • Clear colored passport size photograph (2cmx2cm).
  • Maximum age of 35 years for male and 40 years for female applicants.
